Why the Right Shoe Fit is so Important

Why the Right Shoe Fit is so Important

The right shoe fit is very important and for more than one reason alone. Sure, comfort is king and at the very top of the list. But, there are other reasons you should always choose the right pair of shoes, regardless of type and use. So, let’s take a quick look at why the right shoe fit is so important.

Why the Right Shoe Fit is so Important

The average American takes between 5,000 and 7,000 steps per day. Those who are constantly on the go might walk up to 10,000 steps a day or more. Even those who walk less can easily log 3 to 4 thousand steps in a day. Meaning, the average person walks about 42,000 steps per week or 168,000 steps per month. This is why it’s so very important to wear the right shoes. Here are some more reasons to wear the right shoe fit:

  1. Comfort. Let’s pick up again with something already mentioned. Orthopedic surgeons and foot doctors alike highly stress comfort is the single most important factor. If it doesn’t feel comfortable at first, it never will.
  2. Foot issues. Wearing the wrong shoes can push toes together, leading to bunions and hammertoes. Not to mention, unnecessary pain from wearing shoes that are too tight.
  3. Exacerbation. If you already have an issue with your feet, wearing the wrong shoe fit will certainly cause it to worsen over time.

When choosing a new pair of shoes, make sure to try on different sizes. Select a pair with a big toe box and wear only those which are comfortable.
