Cancer can occur anywhere in the body. We all know about lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, and more. For instance, skin cancer one type which can occur at any location on the body. But, there are some types of cancers which occur in the feet.

Skin Cancers of the Feet

When cancer occurs in the feet, you might think the cause is due to sun exposure. But, this isn’t actually the case. In fact, most cancers of the feet are due to things such as viruses, chemical exposure, chronic inflammation, and even inherited traits.

The skin of the feet are susceptible to three of the most common different forms of cancer, which include:

● Basal cell carcinoma. This is the least aggressive type of skin cancers and does not generally appear on the foot, since it occurs most in sun-exposed parts of the body. Often, basal cell carcinoma does not spread to other parts of the body and generally looks like white bumps and is also generally benign.
● Squamous cell carcinoma. This is the most common type of foot cancer. But, like basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma doesn’t not usually spread to other parts of the body. However, it may spread, if left untreated.
● Malignant melanoma. This is one type of foot cancer which is among the deadliest. Malignant melanoma must be detected early on and non-surgical treatments are rarely successful.
