How Nutrition Affects Your Feet

You may not know it or think about it, but your diet does affect your feet. When most people think about a diet, they think about losing weight or getting into shape. But, what you eat definitely does more than widen your waist. It also affects your feet.

How Nutrition Affects Your Feet

Did you know there are a number of common foods which can cause inflammation to occur in the body? We’re not talking about big bellies, but inflammation of the joints and more. Some refined grains, trans fats, junk food, and sugars spell real trouble as these are associated with inflammation, most notably, in the feet. To ward off foot inflammation, you can do the following:

● Consume omega-3 fats. There are different species of fish, such as salmon, which are a good source of omega-3 fats. Balance these out with omega-6 fats and you’ll do much to avoid foot inflammation.
● Maintain a healthy diet. Of course, it’s always good to stay on a healthy diet, with plenty of fruits and vegetables. Enjoy red meat in moderation and don’t drink or smoke for an even better lifestyle.

If you have diabetes or are at risk for the disease, it’s best to be as proactive as possible. Be sure to schedule regular check ups and get regular exercise. For help finding Foot Doctors in Houston please contact us at http://houstonfamilyfootandankle.com
