How Nutrition Affects Your Feet

When we think about our diet, we tend to think of our waistlines. But, there are other parts of the body impacted by your diet. In fact, the entirety of your body is affected by what you eat, drink, and consume in other ways. For instance, your feet are actually affected by your nutritional intake. While that might seem a bit far fetched, it isn’t — nutrition does affect your feet.

How Nutrition Affects Your Feet

A surprise to many people is learning just how extensive your nutritional balance is to your whole body, from head to toe. Now, most people know to limit calories and choose the right carbohydrates. But, there are foods which contain some things that are not so healthy for your feet. Refined grains are one good example, as these can cause inflammation in the feet, as well as other parts of the body. Trans fats are also known to be bad — but why? Well, for the same reason — inflammation in the feet. Junk food and sugar do the same to the feet.

So, what can you do to better balance your diet and keep your feet healthy? Well, you can always mix omega-3 fats into your diet. Add a little omega-6 and that’s a great combination.

Additionally, you can ditch those unhealthy foods, drinks, and habits. For instance, smoking is quite harmful to the whole of your body — not just your lungs. Alcohol and junk food are also bad news. But, a healthy diet, combining meats, fish, vegetables, and fruits will do wonders.
