Foot Care and Diabetes

Foot Care and Diabetes

Foot care and diabetes go hand and hand. For the
majority of people, caring for their feet isn’t necessarily part of their day to day life. But for those individuals with diabetes, foot care is an essential part of daily life.

Foot Care and Diabetes

When someone gets a small wound on his or her foot, it’s generally not a big deal. However, if you suffer from diabetes, it’s huge. Diabetes is known by medical professionals to cause nerve damage in the feet, problems with arteries in the legs, and more. If you do have diabetes, be sure to do the following to avoid unnecessary pain and suffering:

● Check your feet every day for any signs of injury. If you see any sort of injury, address it right away.
● Do not walk around without shoes or barefoot. For those who have diabetes, it’s very important to guard against possible injuries and you should not go barefoot, inside or outside.
● Always wear the right shoes. When it comes to diabetes and the feet, there’s no better protocol than to wear the right shoes.
● Maintain a healthy diet. You need to avoid bad eating habits and smoking, as well. Keep your diet healthy to help fight and control your blood sugar.
Also, get regular doctor check ups to stay on top of your diabetes.
